Inspiration
Inspiration comes from so many places. Things that have the potential to inspire are around us all day and everyday. We just have to have our eyes and more importantly our minds open to truly see it.
I am guilty of not always "seeing" what is around as we all get into a routine or are so focused on getting certain things done that we aren't looking at anything else. I can recall a few moments in life that didn't go as planned when I was forced to wait or to stop with no other options. These are the times that I specifically remember what I saw that day.
One example, which isn't mind blowing, but was still something I had never had the chance to see was when I was locked out of my house years ago. I was not thrilled with the idea of having to wait for someone else to come home. This was before cell phones were common place - which seems like a lifetime ago! I had no other options than to sit on the back steps and wait. In doing so I had the chance to enjoy the quietness of the tiny yard and watch some squirrels run around. I was used to seeing them run around and try clear out our bird feeders on a daily basis, but I had never seen a baby squirrel.
While sitting there I got to watch a mom squirrel and her baby sitting on a fence under a pine branch that was protecting them from being too obvious. The baby was snuggled into his mom and they were both soaking up the warmth of the sun. Moments like that seeing the "little" things in life make me realize I need to slow down and see what is around and I mean really see it and absorb it.
Sometimes those are the moments where I find inspiration. On a recent walk in the woods with my family I was taking a million pictures like I usually do. When I noticed this huge tree. The picture does not do it justice. What I loved was that my kids followed me over to it as it was off the path and also took a moment to take in it's beauty. Nature has a way of making us feel very small as well as reminding us we are part of a much bigger picture.
So as our lives pick up pace, remember to try to savor a moment or two or every day and let those moments inspire you. This tree has inspired me and I am off to the studio to make it into a reality.
